Bye Brett, Thanks For the Memories

Both UAA basketball teams go to NCAAs

After piecing together the most successful season in the history of Seawolf basketball, the men and women's teams are expected to return home tonight and the public is invited to greet them upon their arrival at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

UAA became just the second school -- and the first since 1984 -- to send both basketball teams to the Final Four, joining Central Missouri State in the exclusive club. Both lost Thursday to be denied a trip to the national championship game.

A dream season for the UAA men's basketball team came crashing down Thursday in the Four Four. Needing just one more victory to advance to the title game of the NCAA Division II Championships, the fourth-ranked Seawolves fell short in a 56-50 loss to 10th-ranked Augusta State in the national semifinals in Springfield, Mass.

Women keep it close before losing 57-54

Both UAA Men & Womens Teams WIN the Western Regionals and are off to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight National Championships!

PLAYOFFS: Seawolves men host West Regional; women to Seattle.

It's been 20 years since the road to the Final Four last came through Anchorage, but the UAA men's basketball team has put the town back on the basketball map.

2008 Iditarod Sled Dog Race

Lance Mackey wins second Iditarod 3/12/08
At 2:46 a.m. officially, Lance Mackey rode his sled behind a smoothly trotting dog team that passed beneath the burled arch on Nome's Front Street to claim a second straight Iditarod victory. He immediately snacked the dogs, and then took a cellphone call from his father, Dick, the only musher ever to win the Iditarod in a photofinish. Jeff King followed him into Nome, arriving at 4:05 a.m.
